Spice up those boring burgers

This week, I’m sharing a recipe with you that’s perfect for the summer BBQ’s and outdoor cooking that I love so much this time of year! These Chipotle Chicken burgers have avocado, which keeps them moist during cooking.

I serve them wrapped in lettuce and topped with homemade citrus slaw, and they are SO yummy! The possibilities are endless….enjoy!


  1. 1 lb. ground chicken breast

  2. 1 small avocado cut into small cubes

  3. 1/2 onion minced

  4. 1 tsp dry mustard powder

  5. 1 tsp chipotle chili powder

  6. 1 tsp garlic powder

  7. 1/2 tsp salt

  8. 1/2 tsp paprika

  9. 1/4 tsp cumin

  10. 1/3 c shredded zucchini with liquid squeezed out


  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the avocado.

  2. Once the spices are thoroughly mixed into the chicken gently stir in the avocado.

  3. Form the mixture into 4 patties using your hands.

  4. Grill over medium high heat for about 5-7 minutes on each side.

  5. Make sure the burgers reach a temperature of 165° F.

  6. Serve plain, or wrapped in lettuce.
